By using the software described here, you agree to the terms of the license agreement set forth below. PRODUCT: Acrobat Reader VERSION: 3.x PLATFORM: OS/2 RELEASED ON: 01/07/97 TITLE Acrobat Reader 3.0 Beta 2 for OS/2 ADOBE BBS (206-623-6984) LOCATION File Library, adobe, acrobatreader, os2, 3.x, os2rd3b2.exe (3902K) ADOBE FTP LOCATION ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobatreader/os2/3.x/os2rd3b2.exe (3902K) DESCRIPTION Adobe Acrobat software gives you instant access to documents in their original form, independent of computer platform. With the Acrobat Reader, you can view, navigate, print, and present any Portable Document Format (PDF) file. This version of Acrobat Read er runs on OS/2 3.0 or OS/2 4.0. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Minimum: * i386, i486, Pentium, or Pentium Pro processor-based personal computer * IBM OS/2 Warp or Warp Connect 3.0 or later (Fixpak 26 required for printing using OS/2 Warp 3.0 or Warp Connect 3.0) * 4 MB application RAM available to Acrobat Reader * 8 MB RAM for system * 5 MB hard disk space, plus 5 MB temporary space available during installation * For viewing PDF files inside a Web browser, Netscape Navigator 2.02E or later. Recommended: * Pentium processor-based personal computer * IBM OS/2 Warp 4.0 HANDLING NOTES To decompress a ".exe" file in OS/2, double-click on the ".exe" file or execute it from the command line by typing the filename. INSTALLATION NOTES To install Acrobat, it is no longer necessary to create a temporary directory, since Acrobat now cleans up after itself. All you need to do is execute OS2RD3B2.EXE. Depending on how you downloaded this file, it could be anywhere on your hard drive(s). One common location where IBM(R) WebExplorer leaves downloaded files is C:\TCPIP\BIN. In this instance, you would type: C:\TCPIP\BIN\OS2RD3B2.EXE This will start the installation program. When the first dialog box comes up, read the screen carefully, and then click the Continue button. The next screen will come up and ask you if you wish to install this product. Click the OK button. Next, the Adobe End-User License Agreement page comes up. Read the entire document and then click on Accept if you agree to the license, or Do Not Accept to abort installation. Once you accept the Agreement, the Install - directories dialog box will come up. You must make sure that the Installation directory has enough disk drive space to hold the program. The default directory is C:\ACROBAT3\READOS2. If you would like to change the location for Acrobat, do so now by editing the displayed text. Once you have chosen a directory, click the Disk space button. If the "Bytes available" on the drive for the directory you chose exceeds the "Bytes needed" number, click the OK button; otherwise, select another drive, then click the OK button. This will automatically change your installation directory to an equivalent directory on that drive letter. Once you have done this, you may click the Install button. When the progress bar completes, you should see a screen that says "The requested components of Acrobat Reader for OS/2 are successfully installed." When you click OK, the Installer should exit. Your installation is complete. Once you have installed the Reader on your machine, you may delete the self-extracting archive program (OS2RD3B2.EXE), or you may choose to move it to a network drive for installations for additional users. To distribute it on floppies, use the OS/2 BACKUP and RESTORE commands (or some equivalent utility) since the archive file is larger than what one floppy will hold. You'll now have an Adobe Acrobat folder on your desktop. Double-click that folder, then double-click the Acrobat Reader program to start Acrobat. If you had trouble installing, check the INST_L1.LOG file in the c:\os2\install directory. ADDITIONAL NOTES You can't execute the installer from a path that has spaces in it. This is a problem with the IBM installer.
